Welcome to Ledbury Community Choir

Welcome to the Ledbury Community Choir home page. Hopefully you have found your way here because you like singing and are interested in joining us.
We are a relatively new choir, and celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2009. At present we have about 80 members. Newcomers are always welcome, and we don’t have auditions; the main qualification is that you want to sing and that you can sing in tune.
We have a wide repertoire, including songs from the shows, folk songs, and gospel music. We put on 3 or 4 major concerts every year, usually raising money for local charities. We also support local organisations, by taking part in events such as civic services and carol concerts.
If you want to find out more, click here to find out about joining us, or here to see what performances are scheduled in the near future. You’ll find that the website also contains more information about our social activities and our members

Competition success

In March 2011 the choir competed successfully in the Herefordshire Performing Arts Festival. This shows us at the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford just after the competition

Our next concert: May 19th

This year we are joining with the Penyard Singers from Ross to perform two works by English composers inspired by the works of well-known English poets. The first piece is The Wanderer, in which a set of 8 poems by Ledbury's John Masefield are set to music by local composer John Frith. This work was premiered by Ledbury Community Choir in 2008 at the Ledbury Poetry Festival The second work is The Canterbury Pilgrims, composed by George Dyson and which uses lyrics derived from elements of the Prologue from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
